Interface SpanOptions

Initial attributes to set on the span.

The span kind (defaults to 'internal').

Optional parent context for span parenting.

When set, the real implementation uses this as the OTel parent context.

Starts the span as the ROOT of a new trace, ignoring both SpanOptions.parentContext and whatever span is active.

Use it for work that has no causal parent of its own but may run inside an unrelated span — a background sweep started from inside a request, for one — so the span is not attributed to that request.

Optional for implementors: an ITelemetryService implementation that ignores it starts the span under the ACTIVE span (or under parentContext when that carries both ids).
